Icon treatment

Icon provides a revolutionary treatment for discolorations on the smooth surfaces of teeth.. If you were born with white spot lesions or have them as a result of braces, we can fix that! This conservative treatment applies material to the surface which gets absorbed into the tooth, changing the color from the inside out. This is a minimally invasive treatment – there is no prepping or removing any tooth structure. This is a one-time treatment with no maintenance required. Lastly, Icon doesn’t preclude you from whitening or orthodontic treatment.

What is Icon?

Icon is a new treatment for eliminating discolored teeth by white spot lesions. Some people are born with white spot lesions and some develop it after orthodontic treatment.

Do you have to permanently and irreversibly alter my tooth?

In the past, you would have to treat your white spot as a cavity (even though it is not), remove it, and restore it with tooth colored filling material. With Icon, you can think of it as paint that get absorbed into the tooth, changing the color from the inside out. There is absolutely no removable of your natural tooth structure.

Do you need to be numb?

Because Icon is so minimally invasive, you do not need local anesthesia and you don’t need to be numb.

Are there special care instructions afterwards?

Nope, just continue your regular oral hygiene routine (brush, floss, fluoride mouthwash). Icon is a one-time treatment with no special maintenance required.

Can I still whiten my teeth? Can I still get orthodontics?

Yes! Icon treatment does not preclude you from either! You can still whiten your teeth either at home with consumer products or at a dental office using professional strength products. You are able to undergo orthodontic treatment with either traditional braces or clear aligners. However, because you can get white spots after orthodontic treatment, we usually recommend waiting on Icon treatment until after finished with orthodontic treatment.
